The soldiers in Anchorage, Alaska are getting temporary housing barracks from Guerdon Enterprises LLC.
BOISE, IDAHO - May 18, 2005 – Supporting the US troops is something that Guerdon Enterprises is proud to do. As a third party builder for Comark (a commercial modular manufacturer), Guerdon Enterprises LLC is providing high quality barracks to Anchorage, Alaska for temporary military housing.
By way of barge from Everett, Washington to Anchorage, Alaska the new barracks are originally built in Boise, Idaho. Building homes is not new to Guerdon, but the Alaska climate is. In conjunction with the Army Corps of Engineers, all of the barracks are built to the most stringent of standards, including heavy metal roofs and siding, blast proof windows, commercial-style doors, and sound proofing. All of the duplex style homes must incur the extreme climate of Anchorage, and everything from structural to electrical requirements are constructed with the heaviest of duty.
Guerdon took on the barracks project for three major reasons. Rick Murdock, the COO of Guerdon explains. “The timing of the project fell right in line with our business plan. Additionally, the fact that we are helping the troops out was a great bonus and the project size (of 152 units) was perfect.” Guerdon was chosen as the manufacturer through a bidding process, but was approached originally by Comark for the Anchorage Barracks because of previous work done for the US Forest Service. The use of Guerdon’s modular construction was integral for the necessary speed of the project due to the short building season, along with the adherence to stringent building codes and unique specifications.
