HOUSING AUTHORITY AWARDS CONTRACT FOR MILLWARD REDEVELOPMENT
First 40 of 48 new affordable homes to be completed by November, 2003.
BOISE, IDAHO – November 16, 2003 – The Teton County Housing Authority announced they have awarded the Millward Redevelopment contract to local contractor KM Construction, Inc. The selection was pursuant to a formal bidding process, and included respondents from Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah. Criteria for selection included price, construction completion date, professional qualifications and experience, references, and ability to demonstrate capacity and expertise.
KM Construction was the lowest qualified bidder at $5,498,299.99 with a proposal to utilize modular construction by Guerdon Enterprises, of Boise, Idaho to meet substantial project completion by the end of 2003. KM Construction, Inc. has been in the construction business in Jackson Hole since 1988.
“This is a great milestone for the County and for our Housing Authority. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our commissioners, past and present, who worked tirelessly to get us to this point,” said Executive Director of TCHA, Forrest Neuerburg. “We thank the commissioners for their leadership, and look forward to working with KM Construction to get applicant families in these homes as quickly as possible,” Neuerburg added. “We also want to thank those other contractors who submitted bids, which helped to make this a more competitive process.”
Construction for the 48 single-family homes will commence in June, 2003 and will be built in two phases. The first 40 homes are scheduled to be ready for occupants in November of 2003. Prices for the homes will range from approximately $62,000 to $187,000, and range from 1 – 3 bedroom designs including attached 1 car garages. “This is an exciting time for essential housing efforts. The architects have worked to provide an attractive design, and this development will provide 48 permanently affordable homes,” added Neuerburg.
